Deratization and Desinsection
One of the most important function of sanitary-epidemiological control is an organizing and carrying out of preventive, antiepidemic and hygienic measures for destruction and prevention new spread of pathogenic microorganisms. In case of preventive purposes these measures mean the complying of sanitary and hygienic norms by the business entities, but active measures of controlling the pathogens means of desinsection, disinfection and deratization.
Desinsection is a complex of measures that carried out for destruction the insects, cockroaches, flies that can be the agents of various infections. Desinsection measures are carried out at bakeries, confectionery factories, food outlets and food production enterprises. Desinsection measures include chemical, mechanic, biologic and physical methods of controlling the destructive insects. Chemical methods mean the using of special chemicals and reagents; mechanic methods include cleaning of premises and solid waste collecting; biologic methods mean the using of certain types of birds or microorganisms; physical methods are the using of steam, fire or sunlight. Desinsection measures are carried out periodically therefore the same flies or cockroaches reproduce quickly and are carriers of helminth eggs so such measures for preventing their occurrence and spread are extremely important. After the desinsection the premises, where anti-epidemic and hygienic works were carried out, should be thoroughly cleaned, and all equipment should be washed out. The floor, equipment and machines are not the objects of desinsection, but the doors, windows and frames of windows, ceil and walls are the subject of desinsection.
Disinfection is the complex of antiepidemic and preventive measures used for controlling the infectious diseases through the destruction of agents of these infections at potentially hazardous objects (hospitals, kindergartens, separate premises, clothes and dishes). The main difference between disinfection and sterilization is that the disinfection means the destruction only of pathogenic microorganism which can be the agents of infectious diseases. The main methods used in the process of disinfection are physical (airing, boiling, dry hot air, non-natural ultraviolet raying), chemical (using the chemical compounds in disinfectants and antimicrobial agents) and combined. The quality and an effectiveness of carried out disinfection depend on subjective (competencies and experience of staff engaged into disinfection, objects access) and objective factors (type and characteristics of object that is a subject for disinfection, the concentration level of disinfectant and its form – gel, powder, aqua, spray, ability of disinfectant to deliquesce in water).
Deratization is the complex of measures oriented on preventing and full destruction of rodents. The mice and rats not only damage the products, commodities, raw materials and investments goods, but also they are the carriers of infectious diseases, dangerous for human health and lives (paratyphoid, leptospirosis, infectious hepatitis, tularemia). The preventive measures of controlling the rodents mean the covering of floor, doors and holes through plating. Whereas, destructive methods of controlling the rodents can be chemical and mechanic. Chemical methods include the using of poisonous substances for destructing the rodents. Mechanic methods mean an installing of traps for mice and rats.
